Alexander took his first cello lessons at the age of 3 in Toronto, Ontario. Today, he holds degrees from the New England Conservatory and Vanderbilt University, and the Interlochen Arts Academy, where studied under Yeesun Kim, Blaise Déjardin, Dr. Felix Wang and Dr. Patrick Owen.
Aside from Alexander's work with Vilera, he has given performances across North America and Europe. To date, he has commissioned works from five modern classical composers, including four new works for solo cello. An avid classical chamber musician, Alexander was a founding member of the Eunoia String Quartet and Trio Alinea.
Alexander, his wife and his cat reside together in Boston, Massachusetts.
